The plan for No. 2
Hole 2 turns the drive into a width-versus-distance decision: water and a fairway bunker press against the right side, with more water near the green. The club identifies this as a demanding par 4. Choose the landing area before choosing the club.
Off the tee
The wide lower section of fairway offers the clearest conservative target. Advancing farther brings the right-side shoreline and bunker into the shot pattern. Account for both carry and run rather than using a successful carry over one corner as proof the whole landing area is safe.
Approach & recovery
The approach enters a green surrounded by a much tighter collection of hazards than the tee-shot landing area. If the drive finishes in rough, reduce the ambition of the next shot before attempting to take on the water. A centered approach leaves more margin than a flag-side miss.
On the green
The green sits at the upper end of the water-lined approach. Use the mapped outline to distinguish the putting surface from the surrounding apron, then check the flag position from your actual angle. Make distance control the priority when the target is partly obscured.
Watch for
- Right-side water and fairway sand affect the drive; water and bunkers protect the green.
