The plan for No. 12
This par 5 bends through a fairway with water on the right of the early landing area and sand farther toward the green. Separate the tee shot, advancing shot and final approach into distinct landing decisions. That prevents a safe drive from turning into an avoidable second-shot hazard.
Off the tee
Find the fairway section opposite the right-side water and use its center as the target. Consider total distance as well as carry so the ball does not run into the narrowing part of the corridor. A useful angle is worth more than a few uncontrolled yards.
Approach & recovery
For a layup, choose a clear fairway section before the greenside defenses. A longer attempt must account for the sand along the approach and the actual green landing area. Recheck those features from your new angle instead of reusing the tee-box view.
On the green
The green sits at the far end of a narrower entrance, with sand nearby. Favor a landing point inside the putting surface and leave room for release. Read broad terrain changes first when putting, then refine the line near the cup.
Watch for
- Water right of the early fairway and multiple bunkers near the approach shape the three-shot route.
