The plan for No. 5

The fifth returns through a straight, bunkered corridor. The main decision is how to reach the approach from a lie that allows you to control the ball into the angled green.

Off the tee

Left and right fairway bunkers form a gateway in the driving corridor. Decide whether your usual tee shot finishes before, within or beyond that gateway, and choose a line for that landing zone rather than assuming maximum distance always improves the angle.

Approach & recovery

The green extends diagonally to the back-right, with bunkers close to both sides. From a short or uncertain lie, favor the larger accessible portion and allow for reduced stopping control instead of trying to reach the far end at any cost.

On the green

A diagonal band of steeper terrain divides gentler areas in the preview. Treat the flag’s section as the target when the approach is controlled; otherwise accept the longer putt from the interior rather than a short-sided bunker recovery.

Watch for

  • Bunkers on both sides of the drive
  • Angled green with close side bunkers
  • Diagonal slope transition across the surface
