The plan for No. 10
The tenth presents a clear distance choice between staggered fairway bunkers. Identify which side of that sequence you can finish on comfortably, then select the tee shot that produces it.
Off the tee
The nearer fairway bunker is on the left; the next sits farther up on the right. A controlled drive can finish between them, while a longer one needs enough room to pass the first without feeding into the second.
Approach & recovery
The approach returns to a green flanked by sand. From a central lie, use the entrance and the available green depth. From behind either fairway bunker, check the lip and stance before committing to the full remaining distance.
On the green
The outline is deeper than it is wide, with a broader rear section and local slope changes. A long approach aimed at an outside flag can leave very little lateral margin; use the interior when contact or wind is uncertain.
Watch for
- Staggered left-then-right fairway bunkers
- Side bunkers at the green
- Limited lateral margin on the approach

- The January 2020 official card lists hole 10 as par 4, with Black 454 and Brown 371 yards. Black tees are marked permission only. These are dated printed values, current USGA totals are reconciled separately, including the unresolved 10-yard Green difference. (Page 2, hole 10)[1]
- The 2019 rehabilitation shifted fairways and bunkers on holes 4, 9, 10, 12 and 17, regrassed approaches, leveled tees and reshaped bunkers. Historical strategy should be checked against the revised geometry. (Scope of Work bullet list)[2]
- The city schedules South cart-path restrictions from November 10, 2026 through February 1, 2027. These operational dates do not establish green contour acquisition or a green rebuild. (2026 table, South cart-restriction row)[3]
- The city schedules South Course pre-seeding for October 5–26, 2026 and closure for overseeding and green maintenance October 27–November 9, 2026. Recheck the operator schedule when planning a visit. (2026 table, South Course October rows)[3]
- The hosts describe how paired greenside bunkers often favor an approach from the central fairway. (45:12–46:04, downloaded publisher audio)[4]
