The plan for No. 1
The first sets the pattern for the South Course: a defined fairway, sand at driving distance and a green that rewards a controlled approach. Start with a target that gives your normal shot pattern room between the bunkers.
Off the tee
The landing corridor is pinched by bunkers on both sides, with the hazards staggered rather than directly opposite each other. Check which cluster your tee and usual distance bring into play before choosing a club; simply aiming at the distant green can hide the narrower part of the drive.
Approach & recovery
The approach opens through the middle between the greenside bunkers. From a fairway bunker or uncertain rough lie, favor a clear recovery into that entrance over a shot that needs both full distance and a precise landing.
On the green
The mapped surface widens toward the back-right. The dated terrain shows a steeper transition through the narrower front portion, so a ball on the green can still leave a putt across a slope change. Give an edge flag some interior margin.
