About Wilshire Country Club
Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles since 1919, Wilshire Country Club stands as a testament to Norman Macbeth's architectural brilliance on a compact urban site. This historic layout demonstrates how a skilled designer can create remarkable variety and strategic interest within the constraints of a relatively small property, crafting a golfing experience that has captivated members and visitors for over a century.
The course underwent a thoughtful restoration in 2006 by Kyle Phillips Golf Course Design, who meticulously recreated Macbeth's original vision using aerial and ground photographs from the 1920s. This careful attention to historical authenticity preserved the course's essential character while adapting it for modern play. The restoration particularly highlighted Macbeth's masterful use of the natural barranca that weaves through the property, creating both strategic interest and visual drama.
