The plan for No. 17
The seventeenth returns to a substantial par 4 after the short sixteenth. Water near the right of the opening corridor and sand farther ahead create two separate tee-shot decisions.
Off the tee
Identify where your drive would finish relative to the water and the right-side fairway bunker. Pick a target that remains useful after your normal miss instead of aiming along the hazard edge for a better angle.
Approach & recovery
The green is guarded on both sides by bunkers. From a long distance or poor lie, a controlled advance short of the complex can leave a simpler recovery than a shot squeezed between the sand.
On the green
The putting surface is comparatively deep along the approach line. Use that depth by selecting a landing area with room both short and long of the intended finish.
Watch for
- Water right of the opening corridor
- Right fairway bunker and greenside sand
