The plan for No. 1
Start with position. The opening par 4 narrows as it reaches the green, and the bunker on the right of the approach makes a loose drive harder to recover from.
Off the tee
Choose a landing window that leaves the next shot short of, or clearly beyond, the right-side fairway bunker. The useful choice depends on your tee and normal rollout; its position on the map is not a reason to force extra distance.
Approach & recovery
Look past the broad lower fairway to the tighter final approach. The greenside bunker protects the left-front portion, so favor a landing area with room beyond the sand instead of treating the flag as the whole target.
On the green
The putting surface bends around its left-side protection. The contour preview shows several changes in slope rather than one uniform plane; choose the intended section before selecting approach distance.
Watch for
- Right-side fairway bunker approaching the green
- Left-front greenside sand
