About Bandon Dunes Resort (Sheep Ranch Course)
Perched on the dramatic bluffs of Oregon's rugged coastline, Sheep Ranch stands as perhaps the most visually spectacular and accessible of Bandon Dunes Resort's championship courses. This 6,611-yard, par-72 layout offers a more forgiving yet equally captivating alternative to its renowned siblings, with a slope rating of 121 that welcomes golfers of all skill levels to experience world-class links golf without the intimidation factor.
What sets Sheep Ranch apart is its ingenious routing that weaves in and out of coastal peninsulas, creating opportunities to play shots diagonally across ocean coves—a strategic element unavailable on any other Bandon course. The design philosophy embraces creativity and imagination, encouraging players to utilize both aerial and ground-game approaches depending on conditions and personal preference. This flexibility makes each round a unique adventure, as firm and fast conditions can dramatically alter playing strategies from day to day.
Course Strategy & Gameplan
Tactical DNA & Fairway Corridors
While Sheep Ranch is the most approachable Bandon championship layout, play it as a thinking course: use the diagonal cove angles when wind allows, favor firm running shots when conditions are fast, and manage distance control on approaches to contoured greens. Reward position off the tee over raw length, and accept center-green targets when pins are tight near cliffs or collection areas.
