Hole 7 at Caves Valley Golf Club is a 564 yard par 5 from the championship tees. This slight dogleg right requires a strategic tee shot to set up an approach shot into the large, 14310 square foot green. The fairway width of 38 yards provides plenty of room off the tee for golfers to hit their driver or fairway wood, though be sure to avoid the seven bunkers that line this hole. Greenside bunkers account for 3% of total bunker count on this hole and should be avoided as they can lead to difficult up and down attempts.
As you approach Hole 7 in different seasons, keep in mind how altitude, temperature and/or wind may impact ball flight conditions. During summer months when temperatures are higher, your ball will fly farther than during winter months when temperatures are cooler. In addition, winds tend to pick up during spring and fall which can also impact your distance control with each club selection.
For players hitting a driver ~217 yards, a 7 iron ~140 yards and pitching wedge ~120 yards (as seen in chart), I would recommend playing safe off the tee with either an iron or hybrid depending on wind direction before attempting your second shot with either another iron or hybrid setting up an easy pitch onto the green for birdie attempt!

Club Recommendations
When playing the hole, focus on keeping your ball in play off the tee and avoiding any of the seven bunkers that line this hole. If you find yourself in a bunker, take an extra club to ensure you can get out safely or lay up for a better angle into the green. The fairway width gives plenty of room so aim towards one side or another but be sure to avoid any trees that may be in your way!
Finally, when approaching the large 14310 square foot green, keep in mind that there are three greenside bunkers accounting for 3% of total bunker count on this hole. Aim away from these bunkers and make sure to select a club with enough distance control so as not to fly over the green and leave yourself with an even tougher shot back onto it.
