Welcome to the 10th hole at SCGA Member's Club at Rancho California, The. This challenging par 3 will test your accuracy and strategic thinking from the tee box all the way to the green.

From the championship tees, this hole measures a daunting 201 yards. With a handicap of 12, it is considered one of the more difficult holes on the course. But don't let that discourage you - with proper strategy and execution, you can conquer this hole.

As you approach your tee shot, keep in mind that altitude and weather conditions may impact ball flight here in Murrieta, California throughout each season. In warmer months, expect some extra distance due to lower air density. However, cooler temperatures may cause your ball to travel shorter distances than usual.

With these factors in mind, our recommendation for club selection off the tee would be a driver or possibly even a fairway wood depending on wind conditions. With an average drive of about 217 yards for our golfer in question, they should have no problem reaching this lengthy par 3 with their first shot.

But don't get too comfortable just yet - there are still challenges ahead as we approach the green. Water comes into play on this hole so make sure to aim for safety if necessary rather than going straight for glory.

Speaking of hazards, there are also two bunkers strategically placed around this large green measuring over 8000 square feet. While only making up about four percent of total bunker coverage on this hole as compared to other greenside bunkers throughout the course (a testament to its overall difficulty), these sand traps can still present problems if not navigated carefully.

Once again taking into account potential changes in ball flight due to weather conditions and elevation change from tee box down towards green level (and factoring in an estimated average carry distance of approximately140 yards with a seven iron), we recommend using either a mid-iron or long iron for your approach shot. This will help you avoid any potential hazards and give you a better chance at landing safely on the green.

Overall, this hole requires both precision and strategy to come out with a good score. But with proper club selection and course management, you can navigate your way through this challenging par 3 and set yourself up for success on the back nine. Good luck!

Club Recommendations

1. Choose the right club off the tee: Based on the length of this hole and potential changes in ball flight due to weather conditions, we recommend using a driver or fairway wood for your tee shot.

2. Aim for safety over glory: With water coming into play on this hole, it is important to prioritize accuracy and aim for a safe landing spot rather than trying to hit a perfect shot towards the pin.

3. Consider elevation change: Take into account the elevation change from the tee box down towards green level when selecting your approach shot club.

4. Avoid hazards: With two strategically placed bunkers around the large green, be sure to carefully navigate them with your approach shot by using a mid-iron or long iron.

5. Precision over power: This hole requires precision rather than distance, so focus on hitting accurate shots rather than trying to overpower it.

6. Practice course management: Use proper course management techniques by taking into account all factors such as wind and weather conditions when making decisions about club selection and strategy.

7. Stay calm under pressure: As one of the more difficult holes on the course, it's important to stay calm and focused throughout your entire round in order to conquer this challenging par 3 successfully.
