The Open de España is Spain's national open golf championship, founded in 1912, and has been part of the European Tour (now DP World Tour) schedule since the Tour's inaugural 1972 season. Ángel de la Torre holds the record with five titles (1916–1925), while modern great Jon Rahm has won three times (2018, 2019, 2022), tying the total of Seve Ballesteros. The event was not held in 2014 or 2017 and was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19; it has rotated among Spanish venues including Real Club Valderrama, Centro Nacional de Golf, and, since 2019, Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
