The tournament was first played in 2013 as the Shaw Charity Classic and has been held every year (except a 2020 COVID-19 cancellation) at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta, a par-70 course of roughly 7,061 yards. Rocco Mediate set the tournament scoring record in the inaugural year, winning at 22-under-par (191), and Fred Couples posted a course-record 61 (-9) in 2014. Scott McCarron is the only multiple champion, winning back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. Rogers Communications took over title sponsorship in 2024, rebranding the event the Rogers Charity Classic.
