Welcome to the first hole at Morgan Run Resort & Club - North in Rancho Santa Fe, California! This is a par 5 with a distance of 594 yards from the Pro tees and a handicap of 4. The Men's tee also has a distance of 580 yards and a handicap of 4. For our Senior Women golfers, the tee is set at 478 yards with the same handicap as well.

This hole features a slight dogleg left, so be sure to aim your drive towards the right side of the fairway for an optimal approach shot. The fairway width is approximately 33 yards, giving you plenty of room off the tee.

There are three bunkers on this hole, but only one greenside bunker which accounts for just 2% of total bunkers on this green. Keep that in mind when strategizing your approach shot.

The green area measures at 4974 square feet and offers plenty of space for accurate shots onto the putting surface. However, there is no water on this hole so don't worry about any hazards off your clubface.

In terms of weather conditions, Rancho Santa Fe experiences mild temperatures year-round with some occasional wind gusts during certain seasons. In general though, altitude should not have much impact on ball flight conditions here.

Based on average distances for our golfer hitting driver ~217 yards and using their pitching wedge ~120 yards (as seen in chart below), we recommend using either an iron or hybrid club off the tee depending on personal preference and skill level.

For your second shot aiming towards this large green area (~4974 sq ft), we suggest taking out either your long iron or hybrid from around ~180-200+ range if possible based upon individual abilities given it’s lengthier Par five nature; otherwise use driver again!

Overall, this challenging opening hole provides opportunities to gain strokes early while still being relatively forgiving due to its wide fairway and lack of hazards. Good luck!

Club Recommendations

1. Aim your drive towards the right side of the fairway to avoid the slight dogleg left.

2. Use an iron or hybrid club off the tee, depending on personal preference and skill level.

3. Take advantage of the wide fairway by hitting a more accurate shot instead of trying to hit it as far as possible.

4. Keep in mind that there is only one greenside bunker, so don't be afraid to aim for the green with your approach shot.

5. If possible, use a long iron or hybrid from around 180-200+ yards for your second shot towards this large green area.

6. Consider using driver again if you are confident in your ability to hit a longer approach shot accurately.

7. Pay attention to any wind gusts during certain seasons and adjust accordingly when selecting clubs and making shots.

8. Don't worry about water hazards on this hole, but still play smart and avoid any unnecessary risks that could lead to trouble shots.

9. Take advantage of mild temperatures year-round at Rancho Santa Fe for consistent ball flight conditions.

10. Remember that this hole offers opportunities for birdies early on, but also stay focused and make sure not to give away strokes with careless mistakes.
