Hole 12 at Cypress Point Club is a par 4 measuring 397 yards from the men's tees. It is rated as the 2nd most difficult hole on the course with a handicap of 2. The fairway has a hard dogleg right and measures 48 yards in width, so accuracy off of the tee will be key to setting up an approach shot to this 7492 square foot green. There are four bunkers that come into play on this hole, three of which are greenside bunkers representing 3% of total area around the green.

Given its length, players should plan on hitting driver off the tee and aiming for the center-left side of fairway to set up their approach shot. Depending upon wind conditions (which can vary drastically due to Cypress Point’s coastal location), players may want to consider selecting clubs accordingly - if there’s no wind or it’s blowing towards them they should hit driver but if it’s against them then they may opt for something shorter like 3 wood or hybrid club instead. With 217 yard average drive distance, player should reach end of fairway easily depending upon their skill level and weather conditions throughout different seasons (where altitude, temperature and/or wind may impact ball flight).

The second shot plays slightly uphill towards a well guarded green with bunkers located left front & back sides along with two more tucked away behind green making precise approaches essential here; players who miss long could find themselves in deep trouble due to steep slopes leading off back side while those missing short will have tough time getting up & down from sand traps surrounding putting surface. Given 140 yard average 7 iron distance coupled with elevation change between tee box & putting surface – players should plan on using mid-iron club such as 8 or 9 iron when approaching this hole; pitching wedge could also be used depending upon pin position & how much spin you need from your shots given 120 yard average PW carry distance . All in all Hole 12 presents an excellent strategic challenge requiring precision along with good decision making both off tee box & when attacking flagstick!
