Hole 3 at Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course is a 395-yard par 4 (par 5 for women) with a slight dogleg left. The fairway width of 33 yards provides plenty of room to hit your tee shot, and the green area measures in at 3285 sq ft. Greenside bunkers make up only 1% of the total hole, so don't worry too much about avoiding them off the tee.

In terms of club selection from the championship tees, you'll want to reach for your driver and aim down the left side as far as possible without entering into trouble. With an average drive distance around 217 yards, this should leave you with just under 180 yards remaining for your approach shot. Club selection here will depend on wind conditions which can vary greatly depending on season and time of day; if it's calm or there's a tailwind then you could go with something like a 7 iron but if there's any headwind then consider bumping up to an 8 or 9 iron instead.

Club Recommendations

If you're able to find the fairway with your drive then you should be in good shape for a straightforward approach shot. The green is large so aim at the center and avoid any of the greenside bunkers which are not much of an issue here. Keep in mind that this is a slight dogleg left, so if you can adjust your line accordingly it could give you an advantage when attacking the pin. Finally, make sure to read the break on your putts carefully as this will be key to scoring well on Hole 3 at Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course.
